Congrats to Mike.
FYI, you can NOT join his team just to go to the Jack, they changed THAT rule a few years back.
Awesome Mike, way to go.
I know you don't drink Jack so let me have that bottle they give you |

Dang. And I am too old and ugly to pass as one of his kids. Guess I will stay home and think good thoughts for them.

Jay, they cook a lot of IBCA and Lone Star. She took grand in Muskogee back in April, but I think that was IBCA too. She took 1st in chicken at Bixby this year. Not sure how she pulled the OK slot - I haven't found yet where she took a KCBS GC. Or does the Jack include IBCA?
We'll have to have a good luck party for Mike at Jenks the weekend before the Jack! |

I could not find a KCBS Oklahoma GC for her this year or late last year. IBCA only has two Oklahoma events and I was at one, so I guess she won the other. Well good luck to her and all the other teams.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks all, I'm pumped just to be drawn, I'll take gettin' in on the wild card everytime. Now if I can just figure out how to be the last one called on stage...
The team that got in from OK won the IBCA contest in Muskogee in March, which qualified because it was a sanctioned contest w/ 50 or more teams. _________________ Mike

Thanks for the kind words and I feel sorry for the folks that had to wait to see if they made it into this contest. I would have had a heart attack with all that pressure. I was lucky enough to get an automatic from Ohio and knew last October that I would be in this great contest.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at this event. Stop in for a cold one!! _________________ Old Dave

Well done for all but what the heck does the term "Wild Card" mean any way. Aw hell maybe ya`ll can just give me a run down of the whole thing.
If ya would like too or want too. " Automatics" "State Draws" "Home State"
I`m sure its all real simple but no one has ever explained it to me. mostly been affraid to ask to be honest. |

Automatics are past winners, Memphis in May winners, American Royal winners (a couple of others).
State Draws are teams that won a "state championship" contest of 50+ teams. If a state has more than 1 (Oklahoma had five, I think) then each winning team gets their name in the draw. If you won two of the five, you name is in twice. Then they have a drawing to pick the team that represents that state.
Home State teams (I am not sure on this one) are the teams that won a state championship from a state that has only one such contest.
When all of the State Draws are done, the teams not selected are all placed into a giant bucket and one more team is drawn, the Wild Card.
I think this info is correct.
