I can't believe I am doing this 2x in one week (please don't revoke my Red Sox nation membership) but you can't blame tomato based chowder on the Evil Empire! It is really from Rhode Island. As stated in an episode of Good Eats (and copied here from Wikipedia)

"The addition of tomatoes in place of milk was initially the work of Portuguese immigrants in Rhode Island, as tomato-based stews were already a traditional part of Portuguese cuisine. Scornful New Englanders called this modified version "Manhattan-style" clam chowder because, in their view, calling someone a New Yorker was an insult"

So we can blame the folks who park side-by-each (and why not the Evil Empire, it makes us feel better.)

I love those. Hold the raspberry and sprinkle with powdered sugar and I'm done.

Hey, granola crunchers live on the left coast. We New Englanders are the ones that take perfectly good seafood and add mayo and cream to make the list.

I think I will start with a bowl of clam chowdah (with cream not tomatoes), lobstah roll for a main coarse and a couple of warm Toll House cookies and scoop of Cherry Garcia.

Crap, now I am really hungry. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Let me just set the record straight here...

Manhattan Clam Chowder > New England Clam Chowdah

Some of the states are doing something very wrong if the chains (Hardy's, DQ) are being cited. Rolling Eyes

Mountain oysters and their kin, Lamb fries are actually very tasty. I have no problem cooking and eating them, but I draw the line at prepping them (slicing). The Mrs. seems to take pleasure at that task. Shocked Laughing
