Well, back in Lima working this week so I thought I'd hit Smokin Q again. Last time I got the ribs, this visit I decided on the pulled pork platter with mixed baked bean casarole and slaw. When the slaw is the best part of the meal, well Crying or Very sad ...Wait, the beer was cold Very Happy .
The pulled pork was very dry and chewy. No smoke taste at all. I was very disappointed. I imagine keeping pulled pork moist and tender can be difficult, but it was like they had it sitting under a heat lamp most of the afternoon. Sauce is on the table. 6 different sauces to choose from. They have Carolina mustard, Memphis sweet, a vinegar based sauce, Texas smokey, and 2 home made, one hot the other not. All the sauces were good and helped moisten the meat and give it much needed flavor.
The slaw was also good. Vinegar based and surprisingly sweet. The baked bean casarole was ok. Like the pork, tasted and looked like it had been under the heat lamp all day.
Not sure I'll go back. They do have chicken on the menu though. If I make back, I'll post.

Lewis Grizzard, a Georgia writer and BBQ aficionado, gave three rules for BBQ joints. 1- never eat BBQ at anyplace that serves beer...2- never eat BBQ in any place that sells t-shirts...3-never eat BBQ in any place open on Sunday. I have found that these rules are pretty much on the mark. There are good places that break the rules, but any place that follows the rules is usually pretty good.
