Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've gotten on here as I've been busy with the graduate school thing. Anyway more to the point my wife has told me as a gift I can get a new Pit Very Happy . I'm looking for ideas on builders both in Texas (where I am now) and North Carolina (where I am moving for a few years). I can also go with a stock model if you have ideas on those as well. All told I've been given 1,000.00 to do it and can probably go a little over if I can justify it. I'm not needing anything super fancy as I've been cooking on a 130.00 Chargriller smoker for four years. I appreciate y'alls input.

I'd say you might find a couple of builders right here that could make you exactly what you want. PM a few after looking at their work. Smile

I'd probably combine the ideas of Tim and Jarhead.

BigPhil, since you evidently move around a bit I would say a 22.5'' WSM they can pack up easily enough and are light enough to move. If you go the backyard offset type they are awkward, heavy and require a truck or trailer to move. Just some thoughts to ponder.

If you want to go off the shelf model... The Yoders are great smokers with a lifetime burnout warranty I believe. The Cheyene runs $799. It has a 16" barrel contructed out of 1/4" steel and is a sweet cooker. My buddy has the Wichita which is a 20" barrel and he just loves the thing. He also purchased the LP log starter option and the heat management plate. Just a thought...

Congrats on the green light for a new pit! Nothing like Christmas in july!

this is another one that is similar to the yoder and you could pick it up at the bass pro store if you have one local to you.

Horizons are made by the Yoder biulder but marketed for Bass pro shop and Cabelas. That is why they look identical. If you want all the info on them Call All Things BBQ. I know the yoder line have a lifetime burnout warranty. I would imagine the Horizon does as well as its the same pit and same manufacture. But I'd call and verify. These are great pits for the money and they have a warranty to back them up.
