I started this build in March, worked on it in between other projects. Started with a reconditioned oil drum, and cut the top off on the side and made a flange with a seal for a wood stove door. Four intakes, two valves on risers, two capped. Weber grates, stainless hardware, temp gauge, and some wheels. [/url] |

| I'd like to say thank you to all who contribute here. It's been a fun project, and have started on another. Two cooks so far, BB's, that came out great. Tomorrow I try a briskit. Thanks again, Scott. |

| Thanks everyone, it has been fun. Being the first one, and now with three cooks under my belt, I already know what I need to change. Then build two more, identical, for friends and family to use. |

Oh, and nice lookin UDS ya got there too. | Ya, my mom had those plates in storage for years, when I built a new house she offered them to use till I got something nicer. Not sure what she meant, that was 6 years ago, and they do just fine. |

Got my barrel for my UDS, just haven't had time to start the build. Man, that is one slick UDS.
If you're near Nashua NH, you may be able to pick up a barrel from Incredibrew, on DW highway _________________ Brinkman Upright

| My barrel started out as a cleaned out oil barrel from NAPA. I'm good friends with the owner and he got it from Maine Lube. After reading about the horror stories dealing with food grade drums with epoxy paint on the inside, I decided I'd rather start with one of these. After I cut off the top, and drilled all my holes, pressure washed it, then burned three cut up pallets. Inside temp got up to 900 degrees. Did that twice, I think it's safe to cook on. Any oil distributor should sell these cleaned out barrels cheap, I paid $25.00. |
