Greetings from Clanton, Alabama.

I am new to this whole competition bbq thing and look forward to learning from everyone!

I am a career firefighter with Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service in Birmingham Alabama.

I entered my first amatuer competition this past weekend with a friend of mine and we did fairly well for our first ever competition.

That is where I was. Our team is Loose Cannon BBQ.

We placed 38th overall out of 46, and we are satisfied that we placed there but of course we are shooting for higher. My friend placed 12th with his ribs and my chicken was 40th so that is what brought us down. I think my sauce was too hot and I may have put too much sauce on there. I hope to be able to so some research and place higher at our next competition.

HomeBBQ.Com is having a competition BBQ school/class in Dothan Alabama on sept 30th- Oct 1st. There is still room for more if you want to shorten your learning curve a whole lot. and learn from one of the best.
