Hi all- Looking for suggestions on the Best Rib rack holder. Will be using it in a Char-griller with side fire box. Want it to be able to hold a full BB
or Spare-Rib rack with out having to cut them in half.

Thanks!

I don't know what the best brand is, but if you're cutting them in half, look for one that has a support bar down the middle. A lot of them only have one at each end of the rack and half-racks can fall through pretty easily on them. Hell, if you have to, weld a third piece on to the one you buy. Any welder's shop should be able to do that for a couple bucks (or even a plate of good BBQ).

If you want to spend the money on rib racks go ahead, but not necessary-

Either you use smaller ribs or your CG is bigger than mine (I have a Duo so that's probably it)

Yep, the duo really does lack for space....

Roast Racks like this one, can be turned upside down. They are available pretty much everywhere, including your grocery store.

Form a circle out of the ribs, overlap by a bone or two, stick a bamboo skewer through it, and get to cookin'. Wink

I went ahead and built me some racks this spring. The store bought ones seemed to have the slabs too close together for my liking, with not enough space to allow for circulation of smoke and heat between them. The ones I made give me about 3 inches of space between, which is about perfect. Check them out...

When you get rack make sure they are tall enough. I bought 4 down at Academy and they were to short. They work well for Baby Backs and
St Louis Style are not bad, but spares lay over on each other and will not brown up. After cooking them I have to take out everyother one and the ones I removes I lay across the briskets so they can get some color. Hope that help some on your hunt for rib racks.

Thanks for the input on the racks! Trying to go with something from
"Southern Steamers" Looks like the racks have some space in between for smoke and heat. We shall see.....
