Nice. You been doing strumin' on your new git-fiddle too?

I'm going to a Cigar Association of Washington event on Sunday. The ticket includes some cigars too, although I can't imagine there'll be any Cohibas. Crying or Very sad

I'll be sure to post some pics.

Nice sunny but cool morning....no wind for a change so I figure I can enjoy a nice breakfast cigar.

I really like these Cuaba Exclusivos.

Went to a fundraiser for the CAW(cigar association of Washington) yesterday. However, I got a little carried away with the scotch, cigars and conversation and forgot to take pics Rolling Eyes

I did remember to get one towards the end of the evening when they were raffling and auctioning prizes. It was a nice event for a good cause, plus I got to come home with some nice smokes Very Happy

This is an annual event that is held at the Vertigo Room in Seattle, which is a private, members only club that you can smoke in. The only way to attend is to purchase a ticket. The ticket includes tastings from a local whisky distillery, food that is provided by a local restaurant, and a dozen or so cigars donated by manufacturers such as General, Drew Estates, Altadis, etc.

The purpose of the event is to support the Cigar Association of Washington and their efforts in our state capitol promoting cigar friendly legislation.

Besides trying to prevent lawmakers from subjecting cigars to the same taxes, laws and restrictions as cigarettes, chew, and e-cigs, the CAW's main focus has been fighting to re-open indoor cigar lounges, so you can go into a shop, purchase a cigar and sit and enjoy it with like-minded people like we used to be able to do before Washington enacted the clean indoor act ten years ago.

Since passing the clean indoor air act, the only indoor smoking lounges are on the Native American Reservations or a members only club, such as the Vertigo, which, as far as I know, it is the only non-reservation indoor smoking lounge.

So now there are only a handful of promotional events at a couple of the local cigar shops, which usually have a designated outdoor space where everyone can smoke, that are only held in during the summer months.

Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before we can get the law amended so we can enjoy our cigars at the local brick and mortars anytime of the year like we used to.

I apologize if I got to political here, SoEzzy.

Not political enough to make me want to delete anything... they have forced the couple of places that had smoking areas attached to close in Utah, if it is more than just the owner of a store, you can't have employees and a smoking area indoors.

without trying to get into the politics: But do you think with the negotiations ongoing between the US and Cuba, there will be change in the face of the cigar business? Not that I am into cigars enough to know the difference, but I hear the Cubans are much sought after. Question

It's sunny and 76* right now, and it's been a long, busy week, so I'm enjoying an Asylum 13 that's been sitting in my humi for about a year before grilling up a nice bone-in ribeye for dinner Very Happy

You should give 'em a try. It's a nice med-full stick. I've had several over the last couple years, and they've all been consistently good smokes.
Not sure what they're charging you there, but here they're around $6...Hard to find a better smoke for that price Very Happy

Ouch! that sucks. I can understand your reservation for trying new stuff, could be an expensive disappointment.

I think I might be able to help you out though. Wink

Hey Josh....what can I say but thank you for your more than generous care package of sticks.
I have had the chance to smoke a couple with my morning coffee at work....thats when I really enjoy a smoke.
I really like the Asylum 13 ...nice full bodied smoke....
I may pick some up next time I am at my local shop.....its always nice to get stuff that is not run off the mill everyday stuff.

Thanks again Josh
