Tonight I smoked a vintage 1992 Rocky Patel Robusto,Natural leaf, most of my R.P.'s are Maduro wrapper.I must say this was one of the best cigars I have smoked, great draw, even burn,a medium bodied cigar that was very easy on the palette right down to the last half inch, thats right, nothing goes to waste .I had this cigar in the evening after diner with a strong cup of freshly brewed coffee, the cigar and coffee together was heaven. Very Happy

Its amazing how coffee brings out the flavor in a cigar...and how a cigar amplifies the flavor in coffee...a perfect match

CB, you been holding on to it since 1992 or you got a supplier somewhere? I imagine those would be pretty expensive if you had to buy them now.

My cigar store carries the 1990 and the 1992 vintage R.P....about $22 Canadian.

Is that the same as these?

http://www.thompsoncigar.com/product/CIGAR-BRANDS/ROCKY-PATEL/ROCKY-PATEL-VINTAGE-92/ROCKY-PATEL-VINTAGE-1992-ROBUSTO-SUMATRA/69201/sc/8806/c/10106/pc/9833.uts

Just for kicks I just bought a 5 pack of RP Vintage 1990 Petite Coronas for $28.00. I have never had a RP so on your recommendation CB I am going to try them. Smile

I don't think I've ever had a bad RP!

I'm in Colorado Springs this week on business. As I always do when on the road I google to see what the local cigar shop situation looks like. So, I found 5-6 cigar shops in the area, read the reviews and found one that sounded like my go-to cigar shop at home. I plugged the addy into my GPS hopped into the rental and headed out. It was only 8 or so miles away so I found it easily enough.

The shop did not have my Perdomo but I found a cigar called JFR..never heard of them before. I asked the cigar guy he said it stands for "Just For Retailers." I bought two and sat with 5-6 other guys and enjoyed a nice smoke for the next hour and a half. I'm enjoying the other one right now in the hotel by the way!

I googled JFR and found one shop had this to say....

JFR stands for Just For Retailers which is why it's so hard for us to get our grubby paws on these sticks. Made by Tobacalera Tropical the JFR is shrouded in mystery. Was it originally blended by Pepin after his exodus from Cuba? No one is saying yea or nay but it matters not, this is a good stick. It's a great value, woody notes and spice are the core flavors of this medium bodied cigar. Constructed of Nicaraguan tobacco and made in Honduras the non-figurado shapes have a pig tail at the head. The JFRs of either variant are in high demand and our supply is limited. At the moment we only carry three of the four JFR shapes, the Piramide, the Robusto, Titan, and the Super Toro.

Ahhhhhh...

Saw this guy on the side of the road...nice rack...wish I had a good camera.

Sadly I have had maybe one cigar night since I last posted. I usually sit out on the patio at night but the weather has been less than cooperative. When I want a smoke i want to relax and sitting in the cold is not my idea of relaxing. Going to Vegas this weekend so maybe a smoke or two is in the cards. Smile

Sadly, I opened the humidor for a couple of smokes Saturday night with a friend and everything was dry. Exterior hygrometer (which I knew was off) said 80% but apparently it got stuck there. My glycol was empty and I immediately filled it and the next day ordered a digital hygrometer. We had a semi good smoke but I was really unhappy. I will keep on top of it and keep refilling the glycol as needed. Hopefully, in a month my smokes will be back to something resembling normal. To all you occasional smokers check your humidor ever week regardless of how tight it seems and what the hygrometer says. Crying or Very sad
