The other day I was visiting the guys at a comp. and got to talking to their neighbors about their cooker.
They have some heating issues and asked me what I might do to fix them. I told them what I thought and
then they asked if I would want to do it, and I said why not. I am going to rebuild the door and intakes,
build a raised wood basket, add therm collars to the doors and little warming chamber, and a drain nipple to start with.
Then a test fire to see if I can raise the temps. Here are some before pics. I will probably start tomorrow on the work.
This cooker is almost identical to my son-in-laws fathers cooker.
Front view.
Those springs work really well.
Firebox doors.
A view in the firebox.

k.a.m as Killwitch said it is nice to see you are working on another project. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I also noticed that you have it chained down in case Killswitch offers to help get it out of your way Lol Just kidding. Looking forward to seeing what it turns into. |

Thank You Ernie, I am gathering some material for it and will start on her Monday, I have a busy weekend ahead of me.
Thank You Denny.
Thank You charleso, I will try to remember to let you know where I am at next time I need a project.
Thank You Logtrucker.
Thank You again Ernie.
Thank You Huntn247, I am going to start with some basic small things and then test fire her to see if I can stay out of the inside of the cooking chamber.
Thank You mtrammel.
Thank You sparkyallday, I decided to keep this one under lock and key, It is not my cooker and she is kinda light weight.
Ha Ha killswitch505, I will install the lo jack tonight.
Thank You daddywoofdawg, I will have to check my schedule. I can promise you it will not be in the winter.
Thank You Wreckless, I see you have been down this road before. I will not repeat what Debbie said. This is a family orientated sight. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

With the axle so wide, I can see the tire making it hard to use the rear of the smoker. Might not be a bad idea to narrow it or actually build a trailer for the smoker to sit on.
Just my opinion. _________________ BLUE SMOKE BBQ

They picked the right man for the job. It looks like the neck on the trailer is about to go. What is the tongue weight as she is now?
PS I hope no E TX meth head hooks onto it and yanks down your carport! _________________ D. Tillery

Huntn247, it really is not that wide. I am pretty short and I can open the doors pretty easy.
Thank You D. The tongue is pretty stout, I am not sure on the weight yet. As far as the meth heads go. All I can say is if they make it into the back yard they probably will not see the sunshine the next day. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Thank You Ernie. We should be picking maters next weekend. We down sized to six rows this year, neither Debbie or I have a lot of time to tend it. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
