I dont post often...more of a lurker than anything, but I wanted to share some pix of a charity cook I just did. This is the first time I have done a cook for anyone other than immediate family, and I couldn't have done this without all of the fine folks here.
So the deal was a cook for 50 + or -, with all proceeds going to the local Relay for Life event. I offered up a pulled pork sandwich with either baked beans or potato salad, and cole slaw of course. I bought all the supplies and did all the cooking. I knew that cooking all of it on my backyard Char-Griller was going to be a challenge, logistically, but I really thought that if I took my time and kept everything safe that I could pull it off.
I bought a case of cryovac butts from Sam's, and did 2, then 4, then 2, in three consecutive days. As soon as I pulled them I put them in the fridge to cool down completely.
Ready to go...
Mustard rubbed
My version of a basic rub..brown and white sugar, cumin, chili powder, paprika, sea salt..
I also did a brisket that I planned on putting into the beans..
Here's the brisket..
smoke ring..
chopped up...
Into the beans and on the grill with two butts..
Both finished products...
Love that thin blue.....
I wish that I would have been able to get pix of a plate-up...but we got kind of busy serving everyone and didnt get any of the potato salad or Roxy's cole slaw, or the bottles of Roxy's S.C. sauce that I made, and which everyone raved about.
All in all I think it was a huge success, with tons of compliments, and we raised more money for Relay than we thought we would.
Thanks for the look! _________________ Char-Griller Trio w/low budget mods |

bigpaguy, you busted your butt for a good cause. YOU DA MAN
Grub looks good, surely you saved some of that brisket and didn't put it all in the beans? _________________ "I grew up poor. It's the people who are born with money who jump out of windows."---Lee Trevino

All I can say is "A-W-E-S-O-M-E"
I've got a benefit luncheon coming up on the 19th of June, only for 100+ people. I hope I can pull mine off as well as you did.
