Can you smoke a pork butt while sitting in an aluminum pan so that it catches all of the juices while smoking?

I would not fit in an aluminum pan so I don't sit in them Very Happy

I would still suggest a rack inside the pan....you are rendering out a lot of the fat in slow cooking. The last thing you want is a greazzy butt!

YES! After about 8hrs mix some of those drippings with your favorite BBQ sauce and baste with it. It only gets greasy on the bottom but I think that's the best eating but my cardiologist doesn't recommend it.
