I've had a local school call me, that is actually very close to my place, and ask if I would set up and vend food at their spring carnival. It would be for about 4 hours. I get a lot of business from them and many of the staff eat at my place regularly so I said I would do it. I am only 1 of 4 vendors they are asking to vend. I figure good exposure with my new trailer and helping out a local school. My question is other than pulled pork sammies, chips, slaw & potato salad what else would be good at this event. I was thinking maybe of smoked sausage on a stick and or brats? I can smoke and grill but no fryer. _________________ Sam Diggity's BBQ

Before we do an event like that we find out first if there
will be a place to sit and eat, if not we keep it simple
pp sammies, hot dogs, hamburgers, soda and water
no sides. A sandwich in one hand and a drink in the
other hand is about all most people can handle. _________________ Curt

I've done this for 3 years selling Island BBQ. Fun event and I usually get a few catering gigs out of it. It's usually a break-even type of affair after I make a donation to the PTA.
I get a lot of the adults, but the hot dog vendor is the one that does really well due to all the kids (elementary school). _________________ Jerk Pit Master

Thanks guys that's what I was thinking. PP sammies, dogs, drinks and chips. I don't think I will do any sides like beans and slaw. I don't think there is going to be many places to sit and eat so hand held stuff is the way to go. _________________ Sam Diggity's BBQ

I talked to the person in charge of the carnival and apparently the local Schwan's man is going to be there cooking burgers and dogs AND taking orders at the same time. Well, I think the challenge is on!! I'm going to have pp sammies, hot dogs, sausages on a stick and bbq chicken drumsticks! _________________ Sam Diggity's BBQ
