Local Lowes has their Stubb's reduced .50 off regular price.

Its the only charcoal I have used since starting grilling about 2 months ago. It does what I need it to do to smoke a butt, or grill a chicken. I got the cowboy lump, to try when I go to grilling steaks.

I'm just the opposite, I don't like the way Stubb's burns. I picked up 8 bags at Lowes to try and to me it burns about like Kroger brand, which isn't anything like Kingsford. I guess we all have our favorites.

When I use briquets I always go stubbs.. Around here you either get Stubbs, Kingsford, off brand, or a couple crappy lump selections. I have found Stubbs works the best for me. To me Kingsford has a strange smell & doesn't burn as long in my cooker. The burn time isn't as irritating as the odd smell it gives off as it just starting to burn. I buy quite a bit of Stubbs everytime Lowes has it on sale!

I have used both Kingsford Comp & Stubbs, IMO I thought they were similar burning, but for me stubbs has less ash then most briquets I have used & is not neary as dusty out of the bag. You should try some Stubbs.. I believe it is on sale again right now at lowes.

Just saw the Lowes Ad
$5.00 per 15lb bag.
Normal price is about $8.50 p/ bag.
I rarely use briquetes but when I do..... I use Stubbs...
and drink a Dos Equis _________________ FATTIE THROWDOWN CHAMP

I bought some last week thanks to this post. I'm going to fire some up today. I have never used it before, but looking forward to it based on all of the positive reviews. _________________ JP
