Annual Abalone Trip (lots 'o' pics)

Oh, YUM!

The first time I ever had a taste of abalone was up on Orcas Island in the American San Juans. Our host personally scuba'd up enough to feed a pretty big crowd (this was the very early '70s, before most jurisdictions cranked way down on the take).

My goodness, I was pretty sure I had gone to Heaven - it was freakin' awesome! It'd be a tough choice for me between abs and North Atlantic lobster - and I love lobster! Very Happy

I am sooooo jealous. In Hawaii the farmed ones are only 1/4 that size nd there are no wild ones. Can I get in on the action next year as well?
