I am in the process of building my first UDS
and had a couple of Q's
1.) Can anyone think of a reason to have more than 3
3/4'' intakes?
2.) does running the ball valve intake up the side of
the barrel restrict incoming air somewhat?
3.) Am i overthinking something as simple as the UDS?

keeper of the plains, I only run one of the four 1'' intakes on Debbie's about a 1/4 to 1/2 open. The rest stay closed. As far as over thinking, I believe if one follows the basic build of a UDS they are good to go. Everything else put on them is personal preference and really not needed for it to perform as intended.

1) Yes in the winter you'll need more intake air
2) I haven't noticed any problems, I think some folks do this so we don't have to bend over, I did!
3)Yes there's so many ways to make them, but I'm thinking my next uds with have at least one intake valve 2" just to get the temp rising faster

I'm with k.a.m. on this one. Keep it simple and don't overthink it. The people that have questions/problems are usually the ones who overdo it.
