Smoklahoma will be there
I read the rules for IBCA and they are very generic, a lot of it says it will depend on your contest head judge. I have read you can't trim your brisket after it comes off the smoker you can only slice it. I have also read that they are very strict on the pencil width slices of brisket.
anyone else have any tips for the IBCA rules to avoid a DQ? _________________ The Sultan of Smoke!

I have a chili meeting with the legion tonight and I'll check to see how many teams have signed up. It's looking like around 15 teams. I'll let you guys know later tonight. _________________ Joshua S.

just FYI...
I called the american legion today and they didn't have my check or entry form, but they said it's not too late to sign up. actually they said just bring a check the day of the contest.
So that brings the count 1 more.
also i noticed on the entry form it says: "rvs (no hook ups)" I double checked and they have NO ELECTRICITY. so i guess i'm going to buy a couple of deep cycle batteries or borrow a generator. _________________ The Sultan of Smoke!

It will still be a go no matter how many teams show up. The purse is the same no matter how many teams. The 25 team thing is to make it a qualifying state championship meaning that the winner qualifys for the Royal and has an oppurtunity to be drawn for the Jack. With out 25 teams the winner doesn't get those.
That at least is how I understand it, if I'm wrong on any of that, someone please let me know. _________________ Joshua S.

Thats right, it's a go no matter how many teams are there. We are just pushing for the 25 teams to make it a qualifier. _________________ 1/3 of The New Pigs On The Block BBQ Team

Yes, IBCA and KCBS both send teams to the Jack and The royal. GC's from either sanctioning body qualify for the royal and get put in the hat for the Jack. Also, with IBCA a first place finish in any category(ribs, chick ,brisket) gets you invited to their Invitational in October at Grand Prairie Texas. You dont have to be the GC of the contest, just finish first place in one category _________________ 1/3 of The New Pigs On The Block BBQ Team
