I was wondering if "chow" is the same as cole slaw on a pulled pork sandwich?
Do you all prefer the pork sandwich with or without?
Thanks! |

Doesn't a "Chow Slaw" use pretty much the same ingredients as "Cole Slaw" - except it is cooked?
fwiw, I'll never turn down a pulled pork sandwich - nekkid or otherwise. But, yes, if there's a dollop of fresh cole slaw on top, so much the better!

BBQ Babe, first of all welcome to the Ring.
In the Marine Corps, chow is whatever they throw on your tray . Then you can chow down on it.
I believe the coleslaw served on the sammie is a Carolina thing. As for me, I prefer it on the side. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411

Chow chow is made with green tomatoes. Chow down as in grab and growl. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411

I believe a black tongued dog of Chinese origin is a "Chow", But as for slaw, yep.......... I like it on my pp sammie. _________________ My memory isn't good enough to lie.

I put my slaw on my sammie, but I make a vinegar slaw instead of a creamy one. _________________ 22.5 Weber Kettle

If we have coleslaw as a side it will always find its way to the sandwich. Anther good cabbage recipe on top a sandwich is C.B.'s cabbage and peppers. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

| The only difference I've had is that "chow" seems maybe a bit less sauced than cole slaw but that could just be my bbq shacks. |

| I would say the main difference, like someone already said, is that chow is pickled. Heck pretty much the only similarity is that they are both cabbage. |
