Well, I had hoped that my first post on here wouldn't have involved me breaking my brand new UDS and hurting myself. I had the lid ajar while the fire got going. I accidentally knocked it off and unbeknown to me it broke the handle. When I picked it up the broken handle rotated and I lost my grip and tried to grab it with my other hand. Unfortunately, the meat thermometer was in the exhaust vent and I rammed the dull point into my hand. It went in far enough that I had to pull it back out. OUCH!

My wife asked me if I knew what to do about it. I said "yes, get the camera!"

"Oh, don't fuss. I just cut myself, it's no big deal."

Hope you're ok. How did the que turn out?

I don't think that hand was done........ I noticed blood when you pulled the temp probe. It may need several more hours on the smooker... Shocked

So was the food good?

You guys are hilarious!

I didn't have any peroxide so I poured some George Dickel on it. What a waste!

The food is still in the smoker. I will get some pictures after while.

Here's some grub I did on my Chargriller last weekend. There is that damn meat thermometer again. Now I know how that chicken must have felt...well...except for the part about getting butchered, brined, spatchcocked and smoked.

Chub beats me to the punch...although rubbing ash on it might be more appropriate given the forum. More sanitary also.

Very Happy

A man's man, "Never mind the blood, get the camera and keep the smoke goin'!"

I hope the rest of the day was without incident. I am sure the food tasted all the better seeing as you literally bled for it.

Just a note on the pictures. Picasa links don't work for some reason in this forum. You were doing it correctly.

Doing the cooking correctly too from what it looks like.
