It has been a while since I made them, but I cook a really mean plate of Spam balls and noodles. I might go check the pantry, I could fire up the smoker with a load of Spam balls, and toss on a bed of home made pasta noodles. Yum Yum Yum

Ok, so how does this look
Throwdown: SPAM
Need at least 10 competitors,
Need some judges
Entries must be in by 3-27??? is that too soon?
any suggestions on guidelines, do we wanna say the SPAM has to touch the grill or smoker?
who all is for sure in right now??

Myself & two others judged a local cook-off sponsored by our local Egg Dealer. Egg only affair with "spam" as the appetizer category.
Anyway... what won our hearts and tummies was an appetizer this fella made with smoked and chopped spam.
What he did was rub & smoke the spam, chopped it up pretty fine when done. He also added some spices to the spam that he wouldn`t tell me the contents of, then he took some of those corn chips the ones they call "scoops"... da big uns ya know. Placed a nice amount of seasoned spam in the scoop, topped with a home made salsa, a little shredded cheese and placed back on the egg till the cheese was melted a bit & turned them in. He won the appetizer category.
I and the other two thought this was a particularly simple and very good little snack. His salsa was great & the spam added a nice twist to the snack.
Simple and good. I had him whip me up an extra "six pack snack" of them to take home to the wife. Nice fella. Still couldn`t figure out the added spice. (salt & pepper?, dry rub?, chili powder?... noooo) |

By my count you have 6 willing participants, there is no minimum listed in the rules, only a max of 25. You don't need to line up any judges, Ring members vote for their favorite in a poll. I think you should go back and reread the rules, nail down the participants and begin Throwdown Spam |
