What kind of rubs and sauces have you bought online and what did you think of them.
We have tried Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous sauces and seasoning. We love them for a vinegar type rib. Put the seasoning on right before resting the ribs not before cooking. We learned that one the hard way as the ribs get a leathery skin. |

Well, I never got my free samples, so can't help you with Ron's. I spend enough each year on rub, it's hard to try the new stuff that comes out each year.
There are several places to go, one I like is Hawgeyes BBQ. They have tons of sauces, rubs, etc. More there than you can experiment with in a couple of years.
Maybe people will jump in and suggest.
what kind of meats. Maybe if we talked type of meat, then we can talk, but it then gets complicated because you have to talk sauce too.
There are a lot of discussions about rubs in the comp forum, and pretty much anything being used there is worth trying at home if you don't have something better.
There really are 100's to choose from. |

Make your own to suit your tastes, and it is a whole lot cheaper.
I use Roxy's Cajun Rub on everything.
Sorry big Ron, I know your rub is fantastic. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411

I'm with SmokinOkie and Jarhead.
I do try different commercial rubs, when I get the chance or friends give me the tail end of ones that they have chanced upon, but for the most part I make my own rubs, I do make some sauces, but I often get given stray bottles of sauces, by family and friends who travel and buy them for me as gifts!
I do wish folks would do little bags of rub as tasters, I'd probably give more a go if I didn't have to buy a 16 Oz shaker as a minimum, I think first class mail allows up to 4 Oz, (this is from memory so I may be wrong and I'm too lazy to look today), so a 2 Oz packet and an envelope and stamp could be mailed for under a buck, (with the cost of the rub added of course)!
Just a thought for those that produce their rubs commercially! _________________ Here's a change Robert.
