Hey guys I have an idea.
I'm concerned with shelf life of me mixing my rub and sending it but a commercial rub has a longer shelf life so how about this:
I've contacted Big Ron and he is on board with this. If we get some guys to donate $5 bucks each through his website and then when he gets enough cash (rub/shipping) he can send it over. Or we can make some type of arrangement for shipping with folks close to Big Ron. I guessing they haven't changed mail to the troops in the past 25 years and this would go via FPO? (meaning we mail in US mail to like SanFran and the military takes it from there) Smoke'em can you please verify that?
Maybe a "Donate for the troops" type of thing on Ron's site?
Let's gauge interest now before we jump into this thing. We need at least 8 or 10+ folks to make this happen in style. What a reminder from home to smell BBQ in the cooker!
Come on gang! Let's make this happen in a big way!!! Maybe they can do a cook for the unit with our help!!!
Thanks for listening,

I was on board a few posts back. The Donate Button is one way, and many folks will place an order at the same time.. A special Batch of Rons Rub that costs a dollar or two more might be another way.
Big Ron will want to download the post offices Shipping software, if he doesn't already have it. It makes filling out the {e.d.} Customs Form MUCH easier. _________________ Traeger 075 "Big Tex"

SENT YOU A PM
Just take it to the post office and mail it. That's what others do when they send stuff from home. Thanks! |

unfortunately the grates I have are not even close to 22 inches. they are only 15 1/2. I guess I am no help there.
I am in for making a donation through Big Ron's website, or whatever is decided. I want to order some big rons anyway. _________________ Addicted to ABT's |

Count me in. It's great to see people help our guys. I've spent time in the Middle East. I'm surprised you could get a pork butt or pork anything. The closest thing we got was beef bacon. Oh, we DID get a ham on Christmas. Woohoo!!! _________________ Brinkman Smoke N Pit Pro

Ah... My bad. You are correct. Thank goodness for charcoal. We used to get firewood from Bedouins. I have no idea how they found it out there in that nothingness but they always know where to get firewood and water. _________________ Brinkman Smoke N Pit Pro

Just to keep everyone up to date, I got smoke'ems address and got this sent today. He'll have uds parts!

Same here. get some Big Ron's and help some soldiers? Win win situation! Yesterday when I fired up my uds for the first time, I put a couple chunks of apple wood in the ring. I don't believe smoke'em will have this option. I often use pellets from BBQr's Delight. Does anyone know Candy? Mayhaps she would like to get involved ala Big Ron. Just a thought...... Mike |

Sorry I am just getting to this. One of my daughters was very sick so I had to tend to family business this weekend. Had a nice cook off planned as well, but family first I am open to whatever comes in. I will gladly send a bundle of all three rubs in whatever sizes needed. For soldiers I would think at least 1 gallon 5lb sizes, but i can also do 25 lb boxes or 30 lb 5 gallon buckets.
I would prefer to meet a soldier in the Houston area so they can ship it throught military mail so we don't have to worry about shipping charges.
Either way I am on board and I can make time today to create a donation button on my website just for this cause. Would be my pleasure to help out. I am not a veteran, but my father was a Marine Force Recon in Vietnam era and he was happy to hear it when I mentioned it to him.
Keep me posted and let me know what i need to do on my end. _________________ Big Ron

Ron -
I was just on your website and I still do not see a donate button.
Am I blind, or is this not yet happening?
