|
|
Hey Guys, I'm new to this here fine site and I've got a question:
I'm gonna smoke a butt overnight tonight so as to have some bbq for a poker game tommorrow afternoon. I've got a probe thermometer with a remote readout/beeper deal and I was wondering what's the best way to be able to sleep and glance over at my remote while I'm in bed to check the smoker temp.
I was thinking of putting the probe in a cup of water in the smoker, or maybe just placing the probe on the grill....any better ideas? |

Hi Jack! (Don't go to an airport and say that!) A lot of guys will cut a potato in half and sit it on the grill. The probe is all the way threw the potato and the end of it is reading nothing but the smoke temperature.
I'm thinking about doing a butt tonight, too. We'll see. _________________ Jesse Gabbard

| The Maverick ET-73 Remote Smoker Thermometer is what I use...there are TWO probes. One for the meat and one with a small metal clip to attach to the grate for the smoker temp. Some people use a small block of wood with a hole drilled through it to keep the probe off of the grate, others use a chunk of potato but you'd have to replace it every time. |
