PostPosted: Feb 08 2010    Post subject: I have changed my user name... Reply with quote

For the past 5 years I have been known as MARVSBBQ (Marv) but as of today I will no longer be using that user name here.

From today on, I will only be using GERONIMO.

Today I will turn over a new leaf and promise (to myself) to be a more positive roll in the catering section (actually every section).

I will continue to post my catering experiences (both good and bad) here and offer hep and advice where I can and get advice and new ideas when possible.

My company just does NOT need (or deserve) the negatively associated with some of the posts. Therefore my company name will not be mentioned from today forward, nor will I post pictures about my company. I may however post pictures of my private (at home) events and cooks.

If the "no pictures it didn't happen" rule applies, then so be it.

Now, let's see if we can move the catering section in a new direction that is GOOD FOR ALL...What do ya say??

Just one last thing, if ANYONE posts something that you feel is wrong or hurtful or just not right SAY SO and if enough people do that, it will probably stop. But to sit back and do (say) nothing, then the offender will usually continue and ruin it for everyone...JM$.02

Thank you

Marv

Been there, tried that, and all it did was fuel the fires of accusation and slander. Heck, I/we even moved down to post in the commercial forum, and the bs/instigators just moved down there until people had enough. A LOT of good people, caterers, business owners wont post here anymore. It is obvious to many of us that some here are above the rules.
It even came to the point where I had to remove the wifi from my restaurant because I recommended this site, had a computer with TSR set as the home page and anytime something was posted from my place, the accusations flew, as IP addresses were posted. The hate/arrogance that spews from a select group, and I still have the pm's to prove it, is childish and pathetic. While I would be happy if it changed, unfortunately, I just dont see it happening. Sad

Thank you

Marv

I understand how/why you feel that way Tony but as in anything it isn't going to change by itself. We as a group have to MAKE it change. GOD knows no "one" can do it alone, it takes a BIG part of us to make it happen and offer a sort of "self-check"/self-discipline and if we as a group are not willing or able to do that...then it will be what it is now....no fun.

I will be the first to admit that I am no angel in all of this..sorry to say Embarassed Embarassed

But as I said, I am turning over that new leaf and will not contribute to the type of threads/posts I did before....or tolerate them.

Tony lets clear the air ehhh?

You started a "signed and delivered" dialog with a one time poster named "bbqboy". The banter went back and forth between you two raking me over the coals.

Like I said, set up and delivered.

I won't post the links, but like you claim I do have them.

Then the e-mail came to me thru your restaurant's IP address threatening to slander/libel my business.

No, your IP address was not posted.

Perhaps it was coincidence, perhaps not.

But don't act the martyr, it doesn't become you.

This is going to get worse before it gets better.

Either folks will learn the rules that SoEzzy has laid out, or we'll see a lot less of certain people.

Good natured ribbing is fine. Harassing people in PMs, on the phone, and just constantly flaming each other to a crisp is not healthy on a forum. Since you guys can't clean it up, someone else has to clean up your mess.

Martyr?
Correction - my IP was linked to a poster and my business was tied to it.

good day you two! bash away, and feel free to post that link.

I will be posting with some of the following people you two ran off..
Ranuccis
Saucylads
OddThomas
ChefHog
Char
mding38926
knuter
lewis and herschel
and now louie
that is off the top of my head, i am sure there are more.
etc, etc, etc,

and now i am done as well.

congrats on another victory! there is really no need for anyone else to post, as a select few have every answer.

btw - i dont recall mentioning you by name mike.

Good to see somethings never change...

BBQMAN please back away from this!

tonyg's correct in his claim about the IP's being posted... as I did that myself!

I mean exactly what I posted in the other thread http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36043 if anyone wants to push me on the whole thing, I'll act according to that post.

Everyone needs to step back from both sides, and bring this section back into line with the rest of the forum!

I for one HONESTLY believe SOMETHINGS are left better in the past.

Things happened, things have been said....leave it that way and move on and try to be a better person because of it or in spite of it.

To bring anything forward does no one (or the forum) any good.

Well, I for one am a little beyond being able to forgive and forget since I tend to hold a grudge.
The abhorrent behavior towards me from a certain member was and still is totally unforgivable.

Imagine this Geronimo, what if you had decided to be incognito from day one, but someone decided that was not good enough for them, and took their personal time to look-up your personal email address, your physical address, your personal phone number, along with the same info of friends and relatives and posted it on the forum along with sending that same info in PM's to various people against your wishes. And stating their pleasure in being able to do this
Plus starting topics with their full purpose only to bash you and post slanderous comments. Would you still be able to forgive & forget?
yeah, I didn't think so!

But could you let it go long enough to just hate them on your own time?

Maybe?

Because if it all flows out on every post either side of the argument, I will put an end to it one way or another!

I hope that is understood by everyone?

Now see, that is exactly what is NOT acceptable and is out of line...in my humble opinion.

No one is asking for or demanding apologizes from anyone....not even you.

I think we all just want to MOVE FORWARD....can we do that??

"Let Bygone Be Bygones"? sorry guys I'll have to take that back simply because marv you're not willing to move on, the guys were right changing your name wont make any difference, I hoped it might but I was wrong. Can't teach an old dog new tricks as the saying goes....

Anyway, its a brand new week, I'm not dealing with your bs anymore marv, you win... I'm going to pull a tonyg and just sit back and watch the show.
Cheers and Good Luck All..

Or one of the homesteaders, will be looking for a ban by trying to rile the "Chef with tongued fork", I presume!
