Tonight I made this Cajun 15 bean soup from a bag. I soaked the beans overnight, then added some water and can of diced tomatos. I also sauteed up some garlic and onions in bacon fat and threw it in. I have a bunch of chopped BBQ pork so I put some of that in there too.
I cooked it in the oven using a beanpot, part way thru I checked to see if it was done, it wasn't done but it was kinda bland. The packet of Cajun spices that came with the beans looked like brisket rub. I added some more rub to it to give it some more flavor.
When it was finally done (4hrs later) it looked and tasted just like the Brunswick Stew that we'd get in NC. Granted it's been a while so my memory may not be spot on, but it was pretty good.
Just a test to see if I can use the pics hosted by Facebook:

I eat that 15 soup all the time except we put all kinds of meat in it like leftover PP , hamburger, sausage, italian sausage and kielbasa. Good stuff but you wouldn't want to be in the same room with me over night !!! I've been known to blow up the spot !!! _________________ "Life is like a jalepeno, What you do today may burn your ass tomorrow" |
