Great job killswitch
I've been watching your build for a while now. I sure like the use of firebrick and the way it looks. That should defiantly hold some heat. Probably help with keeping the paint on the firebox too. Can't wait to see it painted and in action.

ME AND YOU BOTH BROTHER Laughing I sand blasted and painted it tonight its lookin pretty good might need another coat if not I’ll be firing her up tomorrow I might season it and play with the tuning plates a little

The damn thing is 97.9 % ran out of paint on the base I used VHT high temp paint and I cant apply another coat for seven days and I want to make a shelve for the front of the cooker. I tested and seasoned it last night thing ran good but I could not get it any hotter then 350 but im still waiting for my chrome stacks to come in so I get a better draw. When I moved all the tuning plates to close off the horizontal portion the vertical portion got right up to temp

So today I figured I would cook on it. I had a brisket, BB’s, beans and corn I wish I could have taken some before pics but the better half had the camera.

keeper of the plains

i welded the chain on so i could pick the damn thing up with a hoist lol
and thought well that would make a cool stop for the lid the cool thing about it is that it came from my great uncles shop when he passed away it was the olest chain i think i've ever seen

Nice rig. Looks like it cooks pretty darn good too. Killer brisket.
You have something to be proud of and I'll bet it lasts a couple of generations.
