I have had a couple of folks here ask if I could do the workbook in PDF.
Here is a link to the PDF I created. This is a first run and I need to know how it loads on others machines and such. Also, if you are running a smart phone of ANY sort, I would like to know if it is friendly there.

Let me know if tehre are any issues with the PDF formatting on your PC or Mac system.
The original Excel workbook will ALWAYS remain and more than likely will be the most up to date.

Charlie, I have the original Excel file open on one screen and the PDF version in another, so I can compare functionality. So far so good - with the exception of a problem common to both: the TOC link to the "BBQ Safety" sheet/page doesn't work in either file, because it points to "Food Safety" instead of the "BBQ Safety" label on the target sheet/page...
Otherwise, the PDF is looking good!
Cheers - and thanks as always for the extra effort _________________ Save the planet: it's the only one with beer!

Hi Cranky Buzzard.
I feel there's a lot of space over on the right hand side.
Some of the pictures in the articles, are a little further left than needed, so borders are not showing up.
Line spacing, paragraphs and gaps between images and text could use a little work.
Try and reformat sentences and paragraphs so that 4 lines is about as much text as you have in a single block.
The pages are free, spread some of the things out sideways makes better sense than taller pages.
Lots of good info all in all. _________________ Here's a change Robert.

In the PDF, these sections are missing the link header (with the TOC, Email and Homepage links):
Appetizers
Acronyms
Smoker Tips
Smoker Ratio Calculations
Smoker Types
Cooking Wood
The link header shows up again with BBQ Links. Not obvious why it's missing in those six sections...

I just printed it out for my brother, I think he will find it useful, but several pages were cut off and I had to print it in landscape.
just seems like some margin/formatting issues.
thanks! |

It's going to take a LOT of work to get it to look right in PDF.
Instead of recreating the wheel in PDF form I am leaning towards making each page up on a web site at some point in the future.
Excel is easy for most folks to get access to, the PDF run was for a handful that had requested it.
I appreciated the replies thus far and will probably tweak it a little more as time goes on over the next week or so.
A for the Excel book, should have a big update coming this weekend.
Thanks again,

Charlie,
The PDF opened right away on the laptop in Firefox....No delay (will try Explorer and Chrome later).
Empty page on 15.
No margin at all on left with lots of space on the right.
I'll try to look at the Excel copy later.
Thanks for sharing all this with us.
Look forward to adding this to my cookbook collection.
Also, I'd recommend adding a picture of a Whiskey Barrel Smoker.

I really enjoyed reading the excel one and this pdf one looks like a nice back up.
Are you going to include any more recipes? Like from the sticky's in each section? (Moink's, fatty's, etc?) |

Looks great to me using Explorer! Been wanting to view the workbook, but wasn't going to download Excel for one document. I already have it bookmarked. Thanks! _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

First of all, thank you for all your work in creating your work book Charlie, much appreciated. I have downloaded both versions and have seen nothing that hasn't already been noted. I prefer the PDF format myself. Perhaps once the web pages are up and running to your satisfaction you could convert them to a downloadable PDF. Just a thought. |

Hmm, that is a good question...
SoEzzy, if I used some of the recipes from the stickys would I be in violation of the rules here?
If not, I'll be glad to incorporate!

Thank you for the work you put into this. I dl the excel a while back. It has been invaluable to a newbie doing this kind of cooking.
I don't see how adding recipes from here would be a violation. They were posted for everyone to enjoy. Maybe you could give the name/screen name of the person who posted it? |

Charlie, I just downloaded the PDF, and it looks great. That's a fantastic piece of work you did there, and my hat is off to you sir.
Also loved the website. Once I get my blog up and running this spring, I hope you won't mind if I make your link available. |
