I've been reading through this site for the past 2 months and have found wealths of knowledge. I through a rub together some this past weekend and did some baby backs. Came out fantastic. Sweet,Heat, Herbs. ..try it out and let me know what you think.


1/4 cup paprika
1/4 cup Hungarian Sweet Paprika
1/2 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
2 tbs chili powder
2 tbs garlic powder
1 tbs white pepper
1 tbs onion powder
1 tbs black pepper
2 tsp oregano
2 tsp basil
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp ground mustard

my worry with this rub is the amount of sugar. does it cause burning?

Also, i would use 1/4 cup chili / cayenne instead of 2 tbs. - i like spicy - otherwise looks good.

It won't burn. My rub is about 50% brown sugar, and it never burns. Unless I mistake the cayenne for the paprika. Wink Very Happy

just substitute the white sugar for turbinado and you will have no burning. this sounds good!
