Just after hitting 40 it was determined that my neck needed to be rebuilt, so I now have stainless steel and titanium in side of it. About a year later I broke 2 of the screws so they went in to fix them and I had a heart attack during the surgery. Went in for neck surgery and woke up in cardiac ICU.

2 months later they decided to put 2 stents in my heart.

I really haven't noticed much here! Shocked Laughing Shocked

Just think, we still have the GOLDEN years ahead of us! Shocked

Charlie

Charlie-
In '07 I was forced out of a job I held for 27 yrs because arthritis in my hips had me so stove up I could barely walk. At the time, I was on the waiting list for hip replacement and was told it would 9 to 14 months before they could work me in. However, the day I lost the job(July 3) I was told they could do my surgery in 2 months(Sept 4). In Jan '08 I had an inguinal hernia repaired, another hernia popped up 1 month later(still there), and Sept 4 '08 had the other hip replaced. My waist looks like Dr. Frankenstein worked on me. Yeah, I'm a little familiar with getting screwed-like you, I have the X-rays to prove it! Laughing But, ya' know what? Any day above ground is a GOOD day! We may be getting old, but it sure beats the alternative.

I'm with on the getting older stuff. I thought I was indestructible before I was 24. I broke my back at 18 in a skateboarding accident and never had it properly fixed. Just toughed it out. I hurt my back later on at work, 3 vertebrae down at L5 and L4. Lost my job... 14% permanently disabled. I suffer pain from both of those. With as jacked up as I am now I don't how I'm going to cope at 50.
I also suffer from gout in both knees and both feet. Twisted Evil
Having an attack as we speak. Been having an ongoing flair up since 2 days before Christmas. It's peaking now, even with the meds.

I feel your pain CrazyChef.

I don't feel or think I'm old but my friends act like they are. They get irritated but I like to give them S!@T that I still play and start on a competitive softball team, ride ATV's, run miles ea. week, sleep very little becuase I'm always doing something, drink often Shocked make and eat lots of awesome food and BBQ......and I'm 43.
I leave Wed to go riding ATV's in the Imperial Sand Dunes of California. Thank god I'm getting out of this cold!

Ever since I started using CUSTOM fitted corrective insoles in my shoes most of the hip, knee and lower back pains rarely show up anymore. Cool I suggest to everyone to get them!

I'll be 50 this march and I have multiple issues with arthritus, 3 discs in my neck have eroded away, an elbow replacement in dec (still out on that one), both knees and both shoulders constantly giving me problems. But. I don't think it has anything to do with age, its mostly what I've been doing the past 30+ years to myself in order to earn a paycheck. I've worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, truck mechanic, automotive mechanic, welder fabricator and hydraulics mechanic. 60% of it outside in whatever weather that happens to be available that day. But thats what they make painkiller for I guess.
