Okay, so I work at a chamber of commerce with about 1,200 members. One of those members is a really nice lady who is a caterer. I have helped her out with a couple of things she needed help with, and I even took her yesterday to get some free wood that I was able to score off of a lot that is having trees cut down.
So yesterday I took her to the lot and we hauled off some wood, and before we left, I told her (in a joking manner), "You know you owe me big time for all the help I have gievn you!" She laughed and said "Don't worry about it, I will take care of you."
Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago. She comes into my office, lays down a long box and tells me to open it. Inside was a Shun Santoku 7 inch knife. I knew NOTHING about these knives, but she swore by them and told me they are used by many professional caterers and chefs. So I thanked her, she left and I did some research...

I think I got a pretty dang good knife!!! She also had an 8 inch with her and told me if I wanted that one that we could trade. So, what do you all think? Good score? (especially for free????)

You were well taken care of.
Make sure you know how to properly care for the knife or either put it up until you do or give it to someone who will. |

@ Adumb - already married!!! (Happily to boot) But she is very nice and caring...karma is a great thing. Be nice to people....
@ SmokinOkie - I agree!!!
@ thooks - without a doubt. she just left my office and we talked about that. she also said if it ever gets dull she will take care of it for me as well. When I get back in to town next week she is going to come over to my house and give me a 101 on the knife and how to take care of it as well.
I am STOKED to use it next weekend!!!!! |

That's a handsome (read: $150) gift.
Alton Brown has his own line of Shun knives.
I only have one Shun in my blocks and it was a gift, 'cause I can't afford that kind of hardware! |

Now that is just sweet!
Next time you see her give her a nickle. Grandpa always said that a knife that is given will cut the friendship... I know, but I'm superstitious!

Nice Gift. That gifted superstition only counts if you believe it, or if she is Chinese.
