Something to be said for synthetic gear lube as well for the new unit. Wink

Jus' curious to find out if You were able to get a replacement drive unit for your Southern Pride Smoker (?)

As a former machinist, tool and die maker, specialty conveyorized and automated machine designer and builder, inventor and...

Aw, what the He!! does all that matter anyhoW?! Laughing Laughing Laughing

I think that if heat was or may have been a factor that contributed to the failure of the original drive unit, I might consider fabricating (or having
fabricated) a "heat shield" to prevent another failure of this sort.

You may also consider a simple small circulating fan or blower directed
at the drive unit to deter any stray conductive or radiative factors that would create unwanted energy in the form of heat if it were a factor in the drive unit failure.

I implemented the use of both these methods in oscillating, linear drive
mechanisms that were coupled to motor driven, right angle speed reducers
and achieved great results. The above applications were in a high temp,
chemically hostile environment.

Feel free to P.M. me if You'd like to discuss further.

Hope all worked well in your favor! Wink

Best Regards,

Tony Very Happy
