I decided to build a offset trailer cooker.
Pipe is 24" dia and 3/8 wall. 6' long
Firebox 24"x24"x24" 3/8" plate
The donor trailer. 4x8'
It was supposed to be a winter project, but once I started I could not stop!
Trailer has new 3500lb axle under it now, with new 15" tires and wheels
Test burn
added propane burner.
Finished for now. Time to cook. |

| Great rig! Is your cooking chamber from a pipe section or did you have it rolled? |

rip - that is one nice lookin' rig you got yourself there. i'm kinda curious as to where you got your steel pipe for your cooking chamber? I'm in St. Charles and getting ready to build a cooker soon myself, and would appreciate any tips on steel suppliers in the area. Once again, great job on the cooker. _________________ 22" Weber OTS

It was made from a new piece of pipe. I was looking for 1/4" but could not find any so I used the 3/8". The pipe came from Trinity pipe in Lake St louis, Mo.
Thank for all the compliments! I loaded it up last Saturday in 20 degree weather with 20+ winds and it worked great. |

| Yes I am close to vexter1. My buddy is the one that bought his old smokey joe. I helped him move it. We have made several modifications to it. ( counterbalance on the door. sealed up the firebox and lid. drain valve. larger front wheels so you can move it. changed the water box. PID tap to the firebox) |

| Can we say " Sweet Boys and Girls?" I knew you could. Awesome! The extra touches in the locking lid handles and the screen on the air inlet ( Think that is what I am seeing) really set this one up. |

How does that thing roll at freeway speeds? Nice and stable? Did you do much thinking about balancing the load so 45% was on each wheel and 10% on the tongue?

I'm said buddy. I added an update on the smokey joe to vexter's original thread Here
Speaking from seeing it in person, rip's build is awesome. He spent alot of time making sure everything was just how he wanted it. Propane starter, tuning plates, damper between the firebox and smoke chamber, nice welds. He has added a lot of threaded couplings so that he can have thermometers and/or thermocouples all over the place. I told him that its so nice that he should make these 'on the side'........ |

I have 10 percent tongue weight, but the drivers side has more weight than the other. I have towed it up to 80 mph without a wiggle. |
