All I have left is the aluminum diamond plate for the deck, and the fenders and she is done! I know the meat looks different, put it in 3 hours apart so we wouldnt have to pulling at once Stuff on the left is 4 hrs behind. Still trying to figure out the threms, so I bought a couple of ovens to see just how it cooks. Tuned up really easy Cookin' a HS grad party, went for it, 130#'s of butts for the 1st cook... It should be great [url] http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j12/tonygregor/?start=all[url] Appears to have worked! ,if I didnt get the link right, I'll try again... |

That is some great work... I like the looks of the rivets, and the firebox doors. You will be smoking with that rig for years to come.
Helluva nice job! |

Got it out of an old farm house. Was originally a boiler. Kept it because I thought the rivets were pretty trick. I have a friend that's an art prof. that will paint all of the rivets, and the raised portion of the fire box, red. |

Darrel,
Just looked at yours, same back to ya How big did you make the hole from the horizontal to the vertical? Is it adjustable? Good things to know, (just in case I ever need to make a mod) |

| This is one very cool looking unit. How did you attach the stove to the tank? Weld? The stove looks to be cast iron, cast can be almost impossible to weld at times. |

Elk,
No cast iron, she is all REAL steel . The tank is welded to the wood burning stove. There is a 4" X 15" rectangle cut into both that allows the heat and smoke to get into the cooking chamber. It is all 1/4" as well. If I tried to tell you how well it cooks and holds temp, you'd think I was BS'in ya. I am still waiting for the aluminum diamond plate for the deck. Can hardly contain myself...

Tony, that is truly a work of art. Love the rivets. Helluva find with that boiler. Excellent job on the construction. You'll have to post some more pics after the rivets & firebox are painted.
Darrel, I looked at your website. Also some great pics & excellent construction. Especially like the little charcoal grill. True simplicity of design, but functionality for days. _________________ There's a place for all God's creatures...

| Very Nice. I too like the look of the rivets. When people see that pit they are not going to forget it. Ever. Are you going to compete with it? |

Nice rig, and you're either pretty brave or pretty blind, too! I'd be scared to death to weld without glasses
Question: have you always waited to once the meat is on to slather and rub? does it always work out well? _________________ Leading the quest to abolish propane from Que'dom...

Thomas,
Neither brave or blind! I think the pic you are reffering to, I was using a plasma cutter. I'd missed about a 16th" cutting out the channel between the stove and the tube. Just got er close and closed my eyes. I ususally do wait to slather until the meat is on when I do over 100#. ALWAYS turns out great, I started doing it that way prior to knowing any better I typically inject the night prior to the cook.
