I hope everyone had a Great Christmas and wish everyone a Happy and Safe New Year.

Can someone please explain what it means "Best Sold By Date" on frozen meat, ie: frozen whole chicken, frozen whole duck, from game hens. Does it mean it has to be cooked by the sold by date or as long I as keep it frozen, I can cook it at a later date?

I appreciate any and all help.

It means the freshness goes down hill after that.you can keep it frozen and it is still eatable but it starts getting freezer burn.

It was probably in the fresh case for the allowed time and did not sell so the store can freeze it and sell it that way without having to toss the product....99.99% of the time it will sell before it gets freezer burn in the store.

MOST people buy frozen meats with a plan to use in the next 30 days so there shouldn't be a problem with freezer burn at home either.
