OK ladies and gents, the Queen of Mac & Cheese and scrumptious ham sammichs has moved over to the dark side of Q!!! Well almost...
This is Candis' first attempt at a fattie, and I have to admit, she is a bit more particular than I am about how things look, feel, and sit when it comes to, well, ANYTHING!!! She is a bit of a perfectionist!
Now, let me warn you, the following pic is of a pretty lady, but the laser beams coming from her eyes should be a warning that she is NOT to be challenged in the fattie making realm! Don't let the smile fool you!
Now, on with the build. C decided that she was going to do a Philly Cheese Steak fattie for the TD. Here are the ingredients: Lean ground beef for the wrap, ribeye steak for the steak part, 3 colors of bell peppers to be kind of Christmasy, garlic of course, onion, and some mushrooms since she loves them!
She tossed all of the veggies into a 1/2 clean skillet with some EVOO and began her first trek into the world of sauteing!
After getting over her phobia of all things dead, she jumped right in and mashed out a good base for the rest of the ingredients while they died a slow death in the pan!
After the veggies were done she dropped the meat into the pan, seasoned it with some of Big Ron's "In The House", added a 1/2 shot of Crown Royal to it, and seared to perfection (the photographer was busy with beer and missed this part). After the meat was done she put it on top of some provalone cheese and added the veggies.
Then it was time to add MORE cheese, American this time since she is a cheese freak!
Sadly, the photographer was on the phone talking BBQ and deer hunting and didn't take pics of her bacon weaving skills, but she did a great job (with a bit of guidance )
Then it was on to making the fattie look most beautiful. She patted, smoothed, tucked, and sweet talked the bacon into submission before placing it onto the pan...
After she had the fattie all tucked in for a good BURN in the OVEN, she turned to me and said; "this better work bubba, everyone else is SMOKING theirs!"
Well, it's supposed to rain tonight, and I don't want the Buzzard Burner out in the wet stuff...
Finished pics and sliced pics to come once it is done! If the photographer lives through telling his betrothed that she can't use the pit!

Hmm, me thinks I am in deep do do from my ringer buddies as it is...
Problem is, Candis hasn't seen the replies yet... Once she does....
Thanks guys, I thought we were friends!
Thankfully she is of the same mind I am about the pit getting wet while hot or when it has ashes in it... At least I THINK she is...
Fattie is close to done in the OVEN and should be pulled soon. Once it has cooled a bit we'll slice and post pics.
This fattie will be going to the folks at work tomorrow...

The fattie has come from the oven!
Now we just need to wait for it to cool a bit and then she will slice it up!
Granted, this is NOT from a smoker, but for a first I think she did pretty good...
