I have been looking at these two systems for my cooker. They both will end up costing about the same with all the parts added up. My cooker is a Superior Smoker; it is gravity feed upright cabinet cooker much like the Stumps uprights. http://www.superiorsmokers.com/
I have read about the things they will do as far as computer hook-up and so on so I don’t really want opinions on that just if you think one gives better service or if one seems to be more rugged under competition environments. If you were going to buy one which one would you spend money on? |

| I am interested in both also. So I have been reading and have called both manufacturers and have decided to go with a stoker when they get some they are out until sometime in mid January. The reason I decided on the Stoker was its expansion capabilities. I usually have multiple items on at one time that require different done temps with the stoker I can get rid of all the remote thermometers I am using. The stoker remote capabilities are far superior to the guru. With the guru you need to have to computers to monitor it from a remote location. |

I have been looking at both of them also.
IMO i think the stoker is the better unit. It has the capabilities to monitor multiple things at once. And can be expanded as previous poster stated. Go over to the virtual weber sight they have a ton of info on the units there. |

About a year ago I took a class in process control and was introduced to a PID controller, for about 40 bucks on E Bay they come with a temp probe, a computer fan will move the air, But while doing research I found this

I purchased the Stoker to use with a SmokinTex smoker. I went with the Stoker because of the WEB interface which can be used with any computer with a Web browser.
This set up should allow monitoring from anywhere in my home (gets kind of cold in the winters in Alaska). With some additional configuration, I should be able to monitor my smoking from anywhere the internet is available (OK - I am somewhat of a geek).
I will post pictures and a diagram when it's completed.
