Well, folks. . . . This is very likely the last TD of the year! I'm sure it'll be a fun one! Here are the revised details. . .
Throwdown topic: Quick, Unique, Easy Christmas/Holiday Appetizers (yes, I realize that acronym is QUE. . . . )
Deadline to post entries: Sunday, December 13 at 3:00 pm (Eastern time) (that's Noon, PST). But you can post your entries any time after Monday, December 7th. NOTE: if you’re gonna join this little soirée you gotta do it by Monday December 7th – after that, no new joiners.
Entries should include: Ingredients list (and pic) plus standard preparation pics with the outline of steps and prep time for each - plus the final "plate up" and total PREP time. Multiple, separate entries are okay as long as pics and accompanying details are provided for each one. So, if you have 3 different appetizers, you can enter them 3 separate times (with all the accompanying pics, info etc. . . ).
Rooolz:
* Basic Criteria: Must be QUICK and EASY and not the common Q-appetizer, meaning:- Quick: PREP time 1 hour or less (bonus points for total PREP time 10 minutes or less) - see explanation under Cooking Method.
- Easy: minimal steps and no fancyshmancy ingredients you have to special order (bonus points for 3 ingredients or less)
- Unique: Moinks and ABTs, while a favorite with most of us, are "common" around here. Cheese and crackers is common. So, if you want to do a non-common version of Moinks/ABTs, etc, and the ingredients don't have to be special-ordered from Brazil or Madagascar (etc), then that would be fair game. If you have a unique spin on the ol' cheese and crackers routine, then that's also fair game. * Cooking method: Any method you like (oven, stove-top, nuker, smoker) or none at all. NOTE: Finished cooking time (ie: 2 hour smoke or oven) would not factor into the PREP TIME (so, if you wanna smoke those scallop, feta and mango ABTs ( ) for 3 hours then knock yourself out! Just make sure you omit the sugar glass strands . . . )
PREP time generally is: Processing any of the ingredients (measuring, cutting, dicing, mixing, rolling, peeling, blanching, sautéing, basting, browning, par-baking, etc...) to get them to a finished or a ready-to-finish state. PREP time counts towards the QUICK criteria.
Finish cooking time: The final cooking time for the appetizer (ie: a 3 hour smoke or 2 hour bake or 6 hours in the crock pot). This would NOT count in the PREP time. * Smack Talk: Friendly, good-natured teasing, razzing, bragging, etc, are all fine (and highly encouraged between those who like it!) - but no mean-spirited jabs please. Also, if folks don't want to engage in smack talk - let's honor that.
Judging: Judges announce "Winner" on Sunday evening around 9:00 pm (eastern time).
Entries will be judged on:
1- Did entry meet criteria based on ingredients list, pics and preparation steps
a. Quick PREP – 1 hour or less - Bonus points for PREP time of 10 mins or less
b. Easy – Minimal steps and uncomplicated ingredients - Bonus points for 3 ingredients or less
c. Unique – see rooolz for more info
2- Creativity
3- Game Face – bring those mug shots!
4- Appearance of final plate up (no bonus points for "honey shots". . . )
Judges: Whitey, Teleking, KAKid, Small Truck, Hotforteacher, Kingofcool

Excellent! Here's who's playin' so far in the 12/13 TD. . . .
CONFIRMED: Toga, K.A.M., Alien BBQ, Jeepdad, Allsmokenofire, and me . . . . (hey K.A.M. any chance you can get Mrs. K.A.M. to come out and play too??)
BBQMAN is out. . .
Judges: Whitey is on deck but we need 2 more
UNconfirmed: Kteedid and Roxy. . . you two didn't confirm if you were in. . . .
There's room for more players folks!! The more, the merrier!!!!
One final thought: Smack talk.... Some folks love it, some hate it. (but judging by the sheer number of "views" the TDs always get, it's obvious that all the bystanders really enjoy the heck out of it! ) Anyway, seems like folks who dish it out should be ready to recieve it right back (we know who we are!). Those who don't dish it out or openly request to "opt out" should be left alone. . . . JMHO. . . . Thoughts??? _________________

Heck Smokew Hound I have been swamped lately.not keeping up with the form like I should<hanging> But I have a ton of parties comming up so count me in. I will have to work on measuring stuff since I eyeball recipies. This should be fun. This will be my first one, so be gentle. (I told that to the proctologist too )
Does this have to be done on Friday the 13th? Or can it be done on Thursday the 12th? Not that I am superstitious or anything.
Don't worry about fancy ingredients, I live in s/w Missouri, where it's all hillbillies and Always Save is the Brand of choice, cause that's the only kind on the store shelf.

Excellent that you folks are joining in!! This is gonna be a blast!!
Hey Kteedid. . . . I forgot about the "game face" - thanks for reminding me! I think it's fun to see people's happy, cheery faces (or, in whitey's case. . . . his grinning, grizzled mug!) I'll update the "rooolz" to include "game face" so the judges know what they are measuring. . . .
BUT - Regarding "smack talk": if folks want to engage in smack talk, that's fine but it's not a part of the "grade" or judging. . . . (some folks really don't get into the smack talk).
BTW: seems fair that folks need to make their decision to join in by this coming Monday (12/7) as participants may start uploading their entries any time after that. So, Monday is the cutoff for new players.
Now, we just need a couple more folks to be judges. . . . Any lurkers out there that want to be a judge?? _________________
