UGA 30 - GT 24. GO DAWGS!!!!
Did you notice that the teams playing for the ACC championship got physically whipped today by the SEC East's 4th and 5th place teams. The SEC has both #1 and #2 in BCS rankings but one will get knocked out of the National Championship race because they have to play each other for the SEC Championship.
Is there any question about which conference has the toughest teams? _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

There's definitely no question which conference gets the most media bias. There's also no question which conference schedules the most cupcakes out of conference.
It cracks me up that fans of teams in that particular conference, who don't affiliate with either of the only 2 teams in that conference worth a damn, try to hang their hat on the conference...instead of on their team. I know of no other conference in the country where folks claim to be a fan of the conference, instead of a particular team. That's got to set a record as far as bandwagons go.
Before you get too giddy, keep in mind the Dawgs got whipped by OSU, which just got shutout this weekend.
Win or lose, I love my Sooners...I don't need to root for a conference.
Go SEC?? Really??? That's funny!!

You mean media bias like still being in the top 25 after 3 losses and no prospect of getting better?
The conference schedule is so tough that you really can't afford to put up too heavy a schedule out of conference, but we do our best. Of UGA's out of conference schedule, there was a #7 and a #11 from this week's polls. UGA went 500 with those folks. You could schedule heavyweights like Idaho State and Tulsa to beef up the schedule or you can schedule #18 and 19 and lose to both of them. Sound familiar?
ASNF, people that clueless usually get elected senate leader.
What's the matter, has Marv not posted something this week for you to pick away at? _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

Reading is FUNdamental Poppa.
You give me examples of UGA's ooc schedule, when I said the ooc schedule for the conference, in general, is weak. Florida and Bama are perfect examples of this. It might have helped if you'd have actually read my post. It may have kept you from getting your skirt ruffled. _________________ Mike

OK, so you challenge me to be a fan of the team and not the conference, I provide you a little UGA vs OU info and you then worry about my reading comprehension? Maybe next time I'll write it down in steps for you.
I only worry about UGA's schedule and am proud of the way they've stepped it up. As for Florida, FSU is not usually a cupcake, you can't blame them for that one. You can blame them for the remainder of their creampuff out of schedule. Bama's schedule included Va Tech. Frankly, one serious quality out of conference opponent is nothing to sneeze at. _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

Want a little conclusive proof that the SEC is the best conference overall? The SEC champ has made it through their schedule to the BCS game 5 times in its 11 year history. Take a guess how many of those they've lost. If you picked none, you'd be correct.
BTW, the Big 12 representative has made it six times and has gone 2-4. Three of those losses were to their SEC opponent. Maybe the SEC should improve their BCS out of conference schedule instead of their regular season schedule.
You ever think that maybe the SEC gets more press coverage because they're more worthy? _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

I think that the "ESS-EEE-SEE" talk is based on the long history of the south sticking together. If you aint from the south, it probably doesnt make sense, and if you are, you know it as the only way. Folks always want to bash the "ESS-EEE-SEE" mentality, but it has brought us to a point where no one would leave an SEC Champ out of the title game and ESPN wants to put every game we play on TV, pay us billions(with a B) of dollars while the rest of the country fights for the table scraps.
Folks in the SEC know what a battle the SEC is so when you see someone who has made those same sacrifices that you have made, go take on someone else, you immediately identify with the person who has been through the same things you have been through...
Just wondering when the dawgs are going to get their ACC championship rings. |

OK, so let's go back to your original post. I like good college football, therefore the SEC is my favorite conference. As a UGA fan, I'm lucky to have a natural home there, but if I were unfortunate enough to have been born in Oklahoma, I'd still recognize the superior football played in the SEC.
Maybe another example would illustrate it better:
I love the USA, recognize it as the greatest country in the world and feel fortunate to have been born here and not have to spend most of my life appreciating it from afar. If I were born in another fine country, I might love where I live and recognize the many fine qualities of my homeland, but I would still have to recognize that there's nowhere else that does it better than the good old US of A.
I guess I'm saying that Big 12 fans are kind of like France. _________________ I likes to eat 'da pig!

I dont see anything wrong with someone being a fan of the SEC. I wouldnt trade it for the Big 12, even though my team would be a better fit + win a lot more games if they did.

What did I confirm? That the SEC dominates in generating cash and exposure for it's teams.
While I hope that Bama wins the title for the SEC, it is because I think that Bama, or any SEC team, winning is good for all of us. It means we all get better and one day it will be the Dawgs turn at the top, but when they get there the top will be all nice and shiny and recently remodeled with all that ESPN cash that has been pouring. |
