What is the best thermometer for accurate cooking chamber temps? My chargriller dome therm. doesnt seem to be very accurate. I would like a wired model that has two probes one for chamber temp and one for meat temp. Is there such an animal?

I dunno about "best" dual-probe digital, but the Maverick ET-73 gets the most hits: http://www.maverickhousewares.com/et73.htm

And this place might have the best price:
http://www.homebrands.com/maresmth.html

(complete and total disclaimer: a random Google price search, that place had the lowest price)

Many folks here love digitals w/corded probes, some hate them with a passion, and rest have a love/hate thing going on. I'm firmly ensconced in the latter group, to the point that I perform CPR on dying probes while cursing their existence in the first place Very Happy/Evil or Very Mad

Cheers!

I have the one below and have no complaints. It has 2 probes and also a wireless transmitter.

Maverick ET-73

I have one of the ET-7's. It's the same thing only a bigger PITA to set. I love it. Also have a Taylor on a cord, if I stay close by. I also use a turkey fryer thermometer stuck thru the door of my DBS at grate level.

Please dont take this as a digg on you because you already put a disclaimer on your post.

I was about to order, then I did some checking on the website and decided against ordering from them.

http://www.resellerratings.com/forum/merchant-discussion-shopping-advice/136905-warning-ikitchen-com-homebrands-com-metromarket-com.html

supposedly the same place with a different name
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/iKitchen

http://www.my3cents.com/search.cgi?criteria=HomeBrands.com

I will gladly pay the extra 20 bucks and get it from a reputable business.

EDIT:
This place has it for 39.99 as well.

http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Maverick%20ET-73%20Remote%20Smoker%20Thermometer:2001303181

And it has gotten all good reviews and is seller protected from Yahoo.

Edit2: Shipping for me was showing 8 bucks. Amazon has the thermo for 48 with free shipping on orders of 25 bucks.
