Hope you all can, I've helped Del with a few events there and am hoping to go to this one but it will be six times larger than any that I've helped with. I sure hope my Stump can head west to help but have to wait and talk to my new boss about it. I don't mind taking the vacation or the trip will be glad to assist! Be nice if many of you do to, you will be blessed for sure.

I normally sleep under my ez-up in a gravity chair for the smoker requires attention anyway about every two hours so not much time to sleep. Last two times I got a hotel nearby and slept the night prior then got a room again the last day to go shower and sleep before heading home but I am only about 14 hrs away now instead of 18-20 I was earlier.

I was going to offer to donate some rub for this, but I see Hendrick is the sponsor so i am sure he has it covered. Not too far from me so i will get with the wife and see if we can donate our time to go help cook.

I am planning on going to this one... Do not yet know if I'll have our big pit available or not (we can feed about 1000 folks off of it), but I can always tow the "big ugly pit" down. Trying to talk my brother into pulling his travel trailer down as well. If he can't make it, it'll be a cot under the EZups... Really looking forward to being able to support our troops!

I don't think I can make it, however if ya'll need some paper towels (by the case) and tin foil(18"X2000'). Let me know we sell them at work. I might be able to donate a couple of each.

All,

I will not be able to attend this worthy cause but wanted to make it known to my fellow trusty and always helpful Ringers. If anyone can donate their time, food stuffs, or other products please contact bbqforourtroops either via the website at bbqforourtroops.com or email address at TroopsBBQ@aol.com.

Now, not to put to fine a point on this....interactions with this specific organization, though well meaning has not always been the most pleasant. I'm sure it is due to being overwhelmed at whatever event is being cooked for or being understaffed and underfunded. It is frustrating to feel deeply and passionately about an issue only to see it fall short due to lack of people and funding. Just wanted you to know upfront if your experience leaves you shaking your head. I truly hope it isn't the case.

Bottom line...the cause IS worthy and so ARE the intentions of this organization.....just not everyone is gifted in interacting with the public. Please do not read any ill intent into this message none meant.
