Hey,

Sort of a catering question. I am graduating next weekend and having a part, I plan on making pulled pork and am expecting 40-50. We are going to have other food (meatballs, burgers, dogs, chips, sides etc.) but the pulled pork will probably be the main event.

Should I use picnic or boston butt. How many pounds should I plan per person.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi there Dave, and congrats on the graduation! Very Happy

I normally go with butts, they can be had at a good price by the case.

A 5 oz. portion of meat makes a good looking sammie, so you get three to a pound. An "over the top" sammie would be an 8 oz. half pound monster, so you can figure on what works best for you. You mentioned other meats, so I would go with the 5 oz. portion.

60 sammies would take 20 pounds of cooked meat. You will need to start with 40 pounds of butts. Cook a little extra if you want some left-overs for the next day (if there are any! Wink )

Good luck! Very Happy

That's a big help. Now I can start planning. If the rain ever stops here and me house isn't underwater it should be a goodtime.
