Hey there, Just to introduce, I have been smoking meats for quite a while on a handed down old bullet style smoker that works really good once I figured out the ins and outs of it. But been feeling a little limited as of late so figured I would make a new smoker/ grill combo as have burned through the grill just this summer as well.
Any way short story is, I found a place to get 55 gal drums (food grade, unlined) for $5 each and so started searching the net for build plans. In the process found this site and found it the most useful of all so desided to hang around a bit.
Will be doing a double barrell style cooker in the next couple monthes and figured would post pics as I go, as well as asking questions that I am sure I can get many answers to here.
Well there is my short story. Glad to have joined the site. |

Welcome! Looking forward to your build pics... Have you considered a UDS for your smoker? Easy and cheap to build, fuel efficient and hold temps like nobodies business! _________________

Welcome neighbor, you have found the best site out there, with the best bunch of people with great information, all willing to help. I have learned more tricks of the trade and so forth here than all the other sites combined. I live in the south part of Topeka, maybe we can get together and talk alittle BBQ / Smoking over a cold one of course.
Again W E L C O M E ! |

I did look at this and really thought about it but really wanted something that if the time came, I would be able to through a whole (smaller) pig in and let her cook so desided on the DBS. Got the barrels, just waiting for the time to get to cutting and putting it all together.

Very cool, I am up by Ward Meade Park and would love to talk smoking. I also make my own beer so first few are on me. |
