As someone on the other end of the finger pointing at me for being a Pellet Head" I couldn't agree with you more.
These forum posts are nothing. I've had people come up to me at contests and call me a cheater to my face because I'm using pellets.
Let's just say I won't repeat the whole conversation, but it's usually pretty sad.
I just leave them to standing around, when I take my trips up to the podium.... guess it's the cooker, not the cook as far as they're concerned.
I find it humorous, almost to the point of being sad, that the issue has to bring such hatred of a cooker or the people that use it.
It's a COOKER? Certainly not the anti-christ of BBQ.
but I will stick up for the cookers, the method, just like I'll stick up for anyone that wants to put them money down for a cooker.
Who am "I" to say it's right or wrong? Gee, you want to cook on an ECB or Weber or UDS or Pellet or Gere, Puck smoker or whatever...doesn't matter to me. You're spending your money and I have ZERO right to tell you that you're wrong.
And that's the point that gets me defensive. You want to foil, you want to cook on a gasser, there's no WRONG method. It's all fun.
People who criticize other people or other smokers or other methods, just don't get it.
BBQ IS fun.... if you'll let it be.
There are plenty of other worldly subject you such focus your hatred on.
