All,
Not been in this very long. I purchased my first batch of apple chunks off amazon and was able to get chunks of hickory at wal-mart. I cannot find anywhere else to get diff woods other than chips. What good are chips on a WSM? Seems like they will burn up in a few minutes and become useless. Thoughts? |

06Saleen I use one of these. Just put whatever flavor of wood chips you want for your smokin' inside box (I do not soak my chips) and place on top of your coals or on you element in a gasser.....voila...instant smoker

06Saleen, not sure where you're located but if you have a Lowe's nearby, you should be able to obtain hickory and/or mesquite hunks pretty easily (they have the chips and chunks too). This is the Cowboy brand and I have found their hickory to be pretty decent (very clean, solid hunks, very little bark or chips). They keep their BBQ/Grilling implements available year-round in all their stores (or so they tell me). . . again, not sure about your area.
When I run out of hickory and can't wait for my wood order to arrive, I'll dash down there - they've always had it. _________________
