I've never made em but there is a Puerto Rican restaruant in San Rafel CA that makes em large enough to use as the bread of a sandwich and its awesome. Its called Sol Food

Fry till soft(3-4 minutes), then press, then fry again until GBD(2-3 minutes).

The reason of the inquire is that Guy on food net was at a place that had a press that made them into a cup after the first fry and then filled with YUM's..

Got my mug to water for some.

It seems they can be filled with all kinds of STUFF... after filling TWO could be put together and maybe fried for the second time..

That might be a GREAT idea for the ones here that have a brick and morter..

If you like the tostones filled, then look up a recipe for Mofongo.. that some seriously good eats.

I have NEVER heard of them until the GUY show...

It just sounded so much of a great idea that could be filled with pure YUM..

Well below is what I just found about the show..

The press was a hinged two piece unit with the bottom being a concave cup thingy, and the top being a ball to go into the lower..

sounds like putting two of the first fried together with a filling and then fried again would be off the hook..
