Nice looking Drum conversion. I have thought of using a drum in the same position, with a firebox below as well.
Thanks for sharing especally the firebox door using the channel and bar stock. I like that Idea a lot!
One thing I hadn't given thought to was the gap that you filled in.
Thanks for the post, I look foward to more. |

Nice looking build. A couple questions for you bud wie ser, if you don't mind.
- Is your firebox a wood stove you purchased, or did you build it yourself?
- With the fire grate, how long can you go before you have to throw another stick in?
- Have you tried it with charcoal to see if it would last longer?[/url] |
Sorry for the late reply on this, I was out in the mountains chasing bambi (not the stripper).
The firebox is built specifically for this using 1/4" steel plate, but I did base the design on a wood burning stove that I built years ago.
With the fire grate I still need to add wood every 30-45 minutes depending on the temp and the size of splits.
I still cant get enough heat out of charcoal to maintain temp. I am considering adding more air inlets toward the back of the firebox to improve the airflow and see if that helps. _________________ Bud
