Thank you Charles, had a little mistake on the vertical hinges not being lined up right so i had to take the bolt out of the middle hinge, works fine now. just mounted two hinges to the horizontal, so ill be cutting that open later when it cools down some outside, watching football now Very Happy

Just got done cutting the horizontal door, the slag on the backside is holding it in place so I'm letting it cool before i take the cut off wheel to it. i also like to mention that my bottom cut is right in the middle of the pipe seam, didn't notice it because of the paint, so well see how that plays out when i finish opening it up.

Thanks Julius, Few pics of finally getting the door open and it didn't warp, I'm happy it didn't. Very Happy Got allot of welding and grinding to catch up on now.

Blind spot welds on the firebox before i put the end plate on, need to fully weld both sides now that i have it open.

Well I've been working on putting the flat strap inside the tank for the main door, talk about hard to get to, if i had to do over i would've opened the door before i put the vertical and the firebox on to make it easier to see where I'm welding on the flat strap. Rolling Eyes The good thing is it's inside and you wont see it. Laughing

HillBilly, that is turning into one sweet rig. It is exactly what I started to build when I built mine but the price of steel caused me to use propane tanks. You have one nice build going there.

On the flat, you can plasma some small hole though from the outside or drill them. Clamp the flat in there and weld them from the outside and grind smooth the excess from the outside.

Keep up the great work!

Family visiting till Thursday so i doubt I'll get much done this week other than a little welding here and there.

Need help from reverse flow guys:

I have an idea and was wondering if anyone has done this and with what success, i need to install the angle piece in the cook chamber from the firebox then my flat plate will be welded to that and on the other side where my vertical opening is I'm going to install another piece of plate that slopes back up to the top of that opening, basically both ends will be the same, so this is going to create a bowl, which i was thinking about using to put water in which will eliminate any hot spots and provide moisture for the food.

The blue in the picture represents the water.

Ok, I see the "pool" between the firebox and vertical, but how does heat/smoke actually get into the horizontal cooking chamber?

Don't forget a drain for the "pool"...

Cheers
