Thanks everyone for the kind words.....it was a blast! But, no rest for the weary.....six slabs for dinner tonight...having some friends over.
I'm kinda feeling like back in my log burning days because I got up at 3:45 this morning and I know by tonight I am going to be beat. Oh well onward!
Just put the apars on and there is a pot of beans under there too.

Jeepdad your mens group probably never had a breakfast like that. Awesome breakfast grub...looks like the ladies made an outstanding contribution to the effort as well. Yeah I could see you nodding off when you get a belly full of ribs! _________________ http://kchawgskitchen.blogspot.com/

After getting the ribs on at 1:30 I went and found my easy chair and put her in full recline postion. About an hour and a half later Mrs Jeepdad wakes me saying its raining pretty hard out. I get up and look out and holy smokes its monsooning outside. I go out and check the smoker and the temp has dropped to 200. So I pulled the patio table over opening the umbrella and get 90% of the smoker under the umbrella.
I come in and check the weather and sure enough a flash flood is in effect expecting 1-3 inches over a couple hour period. So, I go in the garage and get the chimney and stuff some newspaper in the bottom load it with charcoal and head back out on the deck. I sat my ash can under the umbrella and put the chimney on it and fire her up. Will be adding the coals in about 5 mins now. I pulled the beans out and added the bacon too while out there.
Its fun trying to figure out the next move with the gear you have when something happens. Time to go load the smoker with a fresh batch of white hot coals.

Three hours in....added a new chimney of coals.
Added the bacon to the beans.
Mrs jeepdad made a lemon bar dessert for tonight! |

I see you're getting the same rain I am!
Thought this was August!
What can you do except keep on going? Looks like you're handling it well, bet the ribs will be great in spite of the downpour!

Chug0lug, Best of luck with the butts....seems like the heavy rain has passed here. We should get all the Ringers in this area and have a get together.
BluzQue... the show must go on!
Mausersmth, Ha... yep we Ringers in this area should get together and smoke some pig and tell bunchie of lies!
I did not take any finished pics. The ribs turned out good and everyone was fat and happy. I am beat and hitting the rack. Good night to all and enjoy your weekend!
