I think thats a great idea!
Does the weight make it bend when your driving? Or do you have some type of Gusset to hlelp with the 90 degree bend? that would be the ultimate tailgater ! |

Not sure about your firebox, but mine would have the paint roasdting off the tailgate. Looks like you need a heat baffle?
Bet you don't get many road tailgaters........................
How do you use it when it's off the truck? Custom stand? _________________ BBQMAN

BMORSE1981, thats a nice little setup I am guessing loading and unloading is a two man job. I have never seen an offset tailgater _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

My question also, how heavy is it and how high is it? I have wanted one of those for a while. _________________ Big Ron

Hey, you could start your fire, put the meat on the grill, and then drive to your party, if it was a long drive, by the time you got there, the meat would be ready to eat
Dunno if driving down the road would get you into a short conversation with a cop or not
Here in Japan we have these guys that drive around in the winter time selling backed sweet potatoes, or "Yaki Imo".
They have a firebox right in the back of their truck and roast, or bake the sweet potatoes right there. They are really delicious, on a cold winter night, you can hear the truck coming, they have a little sing-song recording that is just basically saying "Baked Sweet Potatoes" over and over.
See >> THIS << video (not mine) of one of these trucks on the streets of Tokyo.
OK, so it NOT really related, but I thought it might be of interest.
Again, the use of the trailer hitch receiver is a very cool idea, tell us how it works out!
Cheers! _________________ http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28985 |

I LIKE TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS, HOPE THIS IS OK WITH EVERYONE...
LOADING AND UNLOADING IS A TWO PERSON JOB, BUT NOT CRAZY HARD TO DO....
THE HEIGHT IS GOOD FOR ME, MY BOTTOM RACK IS AT ABOUT 42" WHICH PUTS THE TOP RACK AT ABOUT 47", I'M 5' 9" SO IT WORKS.
THE BACK SIDE OF THE FIRE BOX IS ABOUT 20" AWAY FROM THE TAILGATE AND DOESN'T EVEN CHANGE THE AMBIENT TEMP OF THE GATE AT ALL.
I DON'T SMOKE WHILE DRIVING, THAT TO ME WOULD TAKE TOO MUCH OF THE FUN OUT OF THE COOK. PLUS NOT SURE IF IT WOULD EVEN WORK.
THANKS MY PEOPLE, FOR CHECKIN' IT OUT!!!! I PLAN ON POSTING SOME MORE PICS SOON. _________________ Custom Offset 16 X 32 W/Custom Hitch Attachment. "Hitch Pit"
