I had been looking for a supply of apple wood, chips or chunks. And I finally found some, but the store I found them at was closing that item out. It was a local Ingles store in NC that was carrying them and they had 1.5lb bags of apple chips on closeout for .99/bag, so I bought all 20 bags they had. So it was a good and bad find at the same time. I called the company that packaged them that is also in NC and they said I could buy the direct, but the guy that would need to give me a price was not in so I’ll need to call back later, there about 3hrs drive from where I live.

Real Nice Score! Lately, I've been looking for apple wood smoking chips at the 2 local stores that normally carry it. I was told at Lowes that there wasn't many calls for it...so they phased it out at this particular location. I spoke with the local Kroger manager about why it had not been restocked all summer. His response was the same, not many calls for it. I asked if he had sold all that was displayed and he said yes. Duh! If you sold out....somebody's buying! Guess I'll just have to add one more thing I purchase online!

For those enough not fortunate as NCBBQFAN I was turned on to DOITBEST.com They have all kinds of wood chunks. The best part is they will ship to you for free. Only catch is they will ship to your closest hardware store and you can then pay/pickup. Don't know if it helps but I use it and it works for me. Decent enough prices if you cant find your own.

Geez I feel bad for ya. My buddy and I drove up to an apple orchard in Fitchburg Ma on a cold, snowy day in February. We picked up a half cord of McIntosh and Cortland apple wood for less than a hundred bucks. I've had five smokes so far this year and used the wood. What flavor !! I've been using minimal rub and enjoying the fruity taste. I'd love to swap some logs for Peach tree logs. Laughing Very Happy Smile

THANKS FOR THE INFO!!!!! Like the others I cannot find it at Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart.............nobody carries it. I will check out the website!!

Animal..........I am just a rookie, but mostly I use Hickory and Mesquite. I have noticed some people talking on here about Pecan. I have not tried that yet, or even see it. It must be with the elusive Apple Wood. LOL!! I use the Apple mostly for chicken, that is something I am working on trying to perfect at the present time.
